Eight x Six

8 Things I like a whole lot:

Pie. I was going to say just pumpkin pie, but then I decided not to discriminate.
Sleeping In. Or perhaps just sleeping in general. I've had the chance to sleep in the last 3 days because I didn't have to work at all. I like it even better when the weather is crappy.
Traveling. I love getting on a plane and going to explore a new place. I especially like going alone... it's amazing. I also really enjoy going to places that aren't new... to see friends and family.

Rain. Yeah, I love the rain. I only like the snow for a little while, and then I'm sick of it.
Candles.
Right now I am enjoying the relaxing fragrance of AVEDA's 'Shampure" candle.... it's the best smell in the universe.
Good song lyrics. "Words make you think a thought. Music makes you feel a feeling. A song makes you feel a thought." --E.Y. Harburg
Laughing.
I particularly love laughing until I can't breathe, especially at stupid things that only a few people understand.

The Beach. It's where I wish I was now, and where I won't be for a while. I love the sand between my toes, and the sun on my face. Cliche, I know.

8 Phrases I Say Often:

"She is trag." As in, 'tragic'. Most likely when referring to someone with unfortunate style, or poor hygiene.
"Suriously?" Pronounced like the name of TomKat's offspring.
"Yo." The usual way I answer the phone when my dad is calling.
"Is he/she kidding me?" A multi-purpose saying, most likely spoken when someone is wearing/doing/saying/acting/looking like anything I object to.
"I'm not going to answer that." Why answer the phone when you don't feel like it?
"What the fungool?" I like to swear in Italian.
"I don't have enough money." 'Nuff said.
"Are you on the phone?" I don't like interrupting people when they are on the phone... it's a pet peeve of mine, so I don't do it to other people if I can help it.

8 Things I want to do before I die:

Have a fairy-tale romance. Who doesn't want to live in a chick-flick... even for a moment?
Have a baby or two. My goal is to produce the first legitimate grandchildren in my family.
Go to Paris. Did you read the part about traveling?
Own the home of my dreams. Hellooooo, House Beautiful magazine!
Go skydiving. Always wanted to do this.
Make more money than I know what to do with. So I can build that dream home... and maybe I'll give some away.
Become the healthiest I can be. And look damn good while doing so.
Stay connected to my best of friends. Yeah, they are amazing.

8 Things I've learned from my past:

It's called a breakup because it's broken. Seriously... read the book if you don't believe me.
Even the most normal-seeming people can turn out to be crazies. It took me more than once to realize this.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So true, that I have this on my bedroom wall.
When the horse bucks you off, you have to get back in the saddle right away, or you'll never ride again. Literally, and figuratively.
Your roommates will never become your best friends. No matter how much you like each other at the time.
Once a cheater, always a cheater. You can take the boy out of the trash, but you can't take the trash out of the boy.
Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength. You just have to let it go.
Sometimes the best therapy is a pint of Ben and Jerry's and a good friend. I've used this one more than once, for sure.

8 Places I'd love to visit

Paris, France. The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Shopping, Cafes.... what could be better?
Oahu, Hawaii. I'll go when Leah is home :)
Seattle, Washington. Herrrro, seester!
London, England. Hellooooo European exploration!
Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Hot Springs in the Winter are the BEST!
San Diego, California. I need the ocean!
New York, New York. I want to live in a Gossip Girl fantasy.
Boston, Massachusetts. I will see a Red Sox game next season.

8 Things I Currently Need or Want:

To lose weight. I just want to be healthy again, and stop fluctuating so much. I see pictures of myself sometimes and wonder what I've become.
More money. I don't think I need to explain this one, do I?
My own place again. Living with your parents when you're 24 isn't all it's cracked up to be.
A car. I've been without for ten months now, and it sucks.
A better wardrobe. I really suck at buying clothes. I tend to get stuck in a rut and continually buy the same three things I don't need: sweats, underwear, and shoes.
A camera that can take decent pictures at live concerts. I love the camera I have right now-- I bought it for myself for my birthday last year-- but last weekend I realized that it has never taken a good shot at a concert. Maybe it's my fault, but I don't think so.. My very first digital was a 3.1 mega pixel Sony brick, and it took AWESOME pics at concerts.
To not live in Utah. Yeah, not my favorite place.
A best friend who works in the Airline industry. So I can have hookups on plane fare. I could do so many more fun things if I didn't have to worry about paying for airfare.

It's That Time Again...

It’s that time again… moving time.  Tine to un-decorate.  Time to pack.  Time to thin out all of my junk.  There’s nothing like a move to help you get rid of things.

I started the process two weeks ago, packing small boxes of things, and sending them on their way.  Now it’s down to the wire, and I have to get all the rest of this junk packed and ready to go for tomorrow.  You’d think I have it pretty much done by now… but I don’t.  Not even close.  It doesn’t help that I could win trophies for my procrastinating skills, if there were such trophies.  (See, I’m doing it again, by going off on a tangent about procrastinating…typical.)

Here’s my problem—I collect things.  Not really any certain thing in particular, just things.  So, I have a lot of things to sort through and thin out.  I guess in a way I’m kind of lucky that I move so much, or I would have waaay more things in my collection of things, due to never having to thin it out.  I sifted through my clothes, and got rid of about a third of what I had.  Sounds great, right?  No.  I still have too much stuff.  For example, I bought one of those vacuum-pack space-saving bags so I could put my down comforter in it and compress the hell out of it, and hopefully it would take up less space.  The particular bag came with a free smaller ‘travel’ bag in the package with it.  I decided to put my underwear in it.  Well, let’s just say that now my underwear now only take up one-fifth of the volume in my giant suitcase, instead of one-half.  The bag does its job marvelously, but my stuff is still too much.  You may be wondering why I can’t just get rid of more stuff, and the answer is quite simple, really… because I NEED eighteen pairs of pajama pants, damn it!  I NEED THEM!

I had some sort of analogy about an elephant in a petting zoo that I was going to use here, but I’m deliriously tired, and can’t remember it, so you’ll just have to make up your own, and hope it’s a funny as mine was going to be.

Silly Survey

Your name:
Emily

Sometimes people call you:
Emms, Emmzo, Em, E, Emily Marie! (which is not my middle name, FYI), Sham-Sham, Donkeypuncher

You have been making the world more amazing since:
1985.

You made your debut in:
Boulder, Colorado

You are the oldest/youngest/or middle sibling:
Middle-ish. Two older-- one by seven years, the other by seventeen years-- and one two-and-a-half years younger.

Your favorite type of music:
I don't know anymore. How about rock/pop/punk/reggae/blues/electronic/indie/r&b/classical/vocal/hip-hop?

You sleep with this many pillows:
Seven. No joke. Two body pillows, a feather pillow, a standard pillow, a latex foam pillow, and two throw pillows that I made to match the curtains I sewed.

What you have the most of in your bedroom:
Probably clothes. I have lots of clothes, and they are quite noticeable right now, as most of them are in a giant heap on my second bed. Now, if the question was asking what takes up the most area in my room, I would say beds.

You have this many piercings:
I'm never sure if having your ears pierced counts as one piercing, or two. So, I have two if we go with the first option, or three if we go with the latter.

You have this many tattoos:
Zero.

This is your blog, how many people do you think read it:
Not many, but according to my stat counter, 28 in the last seven days. Impressive, since I haven't posted anything new in almost a month. Also, my stat counter says that someone in Louisiana comes here a lot. I don't know anyone in Louisiana. Who are you?

Something about your neighbor across the street:
I don't have a neighbor across the street. Instead I have a parking lot outside my bedroom window, and a river beyond the parking lot, and a busy street beyond the river. I do have upstairs neighbors who are quite noisy late at night. Good thing I don't usually sleep at night, so I don't get mad... I just steal their wireless instead.

Name an item you've kept since you were young:
I still have my blankie that my mom quilted for me before I was born. It stays on my bed at her house, though, so I don't know if that counts. On the shelf above my bed is the conch shell my grandma gave me when I was three.

You get your money from:
Well, I used to have a job, and I got my money that way, but then I went to Colorado for a while and got paid some money to be there. Now I think I am going back to Colorado to get some more money.

Your natural hair color is:
I'm not sure. I like it the way it is now,
but I'll have to go back to my AMAZING hairstylist in Littleton to get it done again next month. That lady is a genius!

Oh, the joys of young lust.

You're on a beach... what do you draw in the sand?
My name in cursive.

Exes... friends or foes?
I'm not a huge fan of the dude, but who cares.

I enjoy sleeping alone and I feel sorry for the next person to fall asleep with me... I've been told that I have sharp elbows. Also, I will kick you.

What was the weather like on your birthday?
On the actual day of my birth? I hear it was snowy that day. This year? Sunny.

What time is it, and why are you not doing something more productive with your time?
5:41 am, and I can't sleep.

Daisy Belle

This is Daisy Belle. I adopted her on my birthday. She lives at my mom's house, because I live in an apartment. She sleeps in my bed when I am not there. She is overweight... a pure flabrador retriever. We are friends.

Freaked Out

Tonight I am going in for a sleep study. My doctors and I cannot figure out what is wrong with me, so they prescribed for me to go to a sleep clinic. I guess they will hook me up to machines and video and audio record me.

It's The Truth, It's Factual...

~ I sleep with six pillows, three blankets, a monkey, and a giant down comforter. Most of the time, at least half of these items are covering my head and or face.

~ I have held at least a dozen jobs in my adult life. I don't get fired a lot... I just am never satisfied with work.

~ I get real mad if someone squeezes my toothpaste from the middle of the tube.

~ If I don't have a pet, I feel incomplete.

~ There are three songs on this planet that are guaranteed to make me cry from the moment I hear the first chord.

~ I have purchased a t-shirt at every concert I have ever been to.

~ I most definitely believe in feng shui.

~ I don't ever remember believing in Santa Claus.

~ I don't have many friends that are girls... guys are much easier to get along with.

~ About two years ago, pink became my favorite color. I do not remember making that decision, but I regret it now.

~ My rotten ex-boyfriend got me into the band that is now my all-time favorite on the planet, but unlike him, I find them impossible to replace.

~ I am challenged when it comes to being aware of my surroundings. Yesterday I fell up the stairs while carrying a plate of warm cookies. Later that night, I tripped over the dishwasher, and ran into the doorknob.

~ There are three flavors of gum that remind me of specific people immediately upon tasting them.

~ I've never been so alone, and I've never been so alive!

A Song About Me...

Emily do you think it’s safe to guess
that you’ll be different from the rest?
Emily I don’t know if you’re truly make believe
but my mind is open to you anyhow.
Oh someday I will say the following words to you:
Emily you’re very different from the rest ,
you have me really quite impressed.
Emily I don’t know if you’re truly someone’s dream,
but my mind is open to you now.

Now Emily brings a tray of parfait,
to the troops of sinuous felines
lounging in her chaise lounge.
Now Emily with an ardent oratory
inspires the troops of sinuous felines
to do the bidding of

Emily you know I’d love to know you best,
but are your confessions just in jest?
Emily I hope that you are truly what you seem
cause my heart is open to you.

Blog Is A Weird Word

I'm not really sure what I am doing back on this thing. I haven't updated it in almost a year, so that's pretty lame right there. I feel like I should be catching the internet-world up with my life, but I am not going to. I am too lazy. I will start from right here, right now, and we'll see how long I can keep going.

my whole famn damily is coming to utah for thanksgiving, and i'm not sure that i am exactly looking forward to it. sara is driving down from oregon with jeremy, brian and his baby's momma are coming from colorado, and scott and his nasty dog are driving out with MY DAD. to stay at my mom's house. not kidding. that's all my siblings, plus my divorced parents, two dogs, a cat, and my weird stepdad. throw his kids in there, with the four illegitimate grandchildren, and you've got all the ingredients for the holiday from hell. oh, and don't forget the fact that we have one working shower in the whole house. i'm almost happy that i have to work on wednesday, friday, and saturday. i love my life.

About Me:

I still sleep with a blankie. I got straight A's in college, but I hate school. I think the blue M&M's taste better. I can easily sleep 14 hours a day if undisturbed. I hate showering. I make faces in the mirror almost every time I look at myself. I still have some of the cement on my teeth from when I had braces. I've been fired from 3 jobs. I tend to over-analyze things. I like peas. Sometimes I steal things. I have 9 decks of cards, but I only know how to play 2 card games. I am smarter than I let everyone believe. A lot of the time, I wish I had a different family. I hate making new friends. I take pills for a problem that I don't want to admit that I have. I make something up in every job interview. I swear... a lot... when I'm alone. I've never been on a date. Some of the best memories I have are of drunken nights. I wear pajamas out in public more than most people. I am an excellent liar. When I can't sleep, it's because I can't stop thinking. I can only snowboard heel-side. The last time I got a tooth pulled, I saved it, and now I keep it in my sock drawer. One time at summer camp, I threw up inside someone else's shoes in the middle of the night, and denied it. I am secretly afraid of heights. My mom left me at Denny's once on purpose when I was ten. I don't like chocolate and peanut butter mixed together. My favorite Christmas carol is O' Holy Night... but only the *NSYNC version. When I'm sick, I sleep in my bathrobe. I don't write on my calendars... I only have them because I like the pictures. I have a favorite pen. I like the taste of baby food. I am really good at listening to two conversations at the same time. I still wear one of my ex-boyfriend's t-shirts to sleep in... two years later. I clip coupons, but don't use them. Rocking babies to sleep is my favorite thing that I get paid to do. I hated my senior prom. I really like watching the History Channel. I can't drive without music playing. I learned to drive while barefoot, and I still don't like wearing shoes in the car. I am so very afraid of being alone.

Dependency

I hate being dependent on a drug. Hate it more than I can say. But if the alternative is a proud stoicism in the face of sorrow accompanied by prolonged and unspeakable despair — well, I’ll take dependency.

A columnist for the Times-Picayune in New Orleans, Chris Rose, an admitted skeptic of depression, finds himself struggling to cope with overwhelming feelings of hopelessness after Hurricane Katrina and eventually comes to terms with the fact that he is suffering from a disease he did not believe existed.
